My experience

I spent 10 years honing my skills at some of Cape Townā€™s best agencies, where I worked on big brands in finance, alcohol, FMCG, media, retail and more. I worked my way up the ranks, from Junior Copywriter to Senior Copywriter to Creative Director before deciding to embark on a solo career as a freelancer.

Along the way, Iā€™ve gained extensive experience in non-profits and NGOs, agricultural and environmental research, health and science, financial services and banking.

Through my work, Iā€™ve helped diverse organisations amplify their messages and achieve their communication goals. Whether you're looking to captivate your audience with a high-impact corporate video, provide valuable insights through a comprehensive white paper, or inspire action with a powerful manifesto, Iā€™m here to deliver exceptional copy that meets your needs.

How I work

After 15 years as a freelance writer, I am highly adept at managing my time, as well as managing projects and relationships remotely. Hereā€™s how it goes:

  • First, we talk about exactly what your needs are and what you are wanting to achieve through communication. For instance, you may want to leave stakeholders feeling secure; you may want to communicate what you do in a clear and concise manner; or you may want potential clients to contact you. Understanding your communication goal is key to anything we do together.

  • I will then provide you with a cost estimate and we will agree on a timeline. Neither of these will change unless the scope of the work changes. Otherwise, you can expect your work back on time ā€“ and on budget.

On the side

Over and above communication, I am also extremely passionate about mindset and mindfulness and did a sneaky qualification in life coaching in 2016. This helped me understand myself better, improve my relationships, and improve my group facilitation skills. The coaching skills I gained set me apart when it comes to understanding what clients want to achieve and why. They also allowed me to conduct group brainstorms, training and facilitation for corporate clients, as well as facilitate wellness and meditation retreats on the side.

I also spent many years as a member of Toastmasters and am a keen public speaker. I offer talks about communication, mindfulness, attitude, gratitude, mindset shifts and much more.

On a personal note

I am an animal lover and sit on the board of the Captive Animal Enrichment Project (CAEP), which works to enrich the lives of animals in captivity around the world.

I love books and literature more than I can explain. My favourite authors (at the moment) are Fredrik Backman, Lionel Shriver, Wally Lamb, Miranda July, John Boyne and Donna Tartt.

I also have a deep fondness for film, photography, cooking, meditation, mindfulness, hot yoga, hiking, music, gardening, psychology, kindness, dogs, cats, cheese, beer, coffee and Universal love.

I recently relocated to Portugal to spend some time traveling Europe and eating more cheese. I have yet to travel to another country, but I have consumed about 12kg of cheese in January alone.
